New games start with a short guided first shot. The landing page has How to Play, and the field notes cover opening theory and defending your king.

The game looks out of date — close and reopen it. On the web, a normal refresh picks up the newest version.
No sound — check your device isn't on silent, then tap the board once; browsers only allow sound after you've touched the page.
Start over from scratch — clearing the site's data (web) or reinstalling (app) resets your rating, theme and tutorial.
